Partner and collaborate with CORE Innovation Hub on the establishment of the new GreenTech Hub in WA

At CORE Innovation Hub, we recognise the significant opportunity of Western Australia’s strengths and natural resources to connect the people, capital, skills and technology that is critical in solving climate challenges.

We are delighted to extend an open invitation to individuals and organisations that would like to contribute to CORE’s expression of interest submission to establish and operate the Western Australian GreenTech Innovation Hub recently announced by the Hon. Stephen Dawson, Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy and Science.

What is the GreenTech Hub?

The Hub aims to support and grow local emerging and established green technology businesses - and to drive innovation in Western Australia in support of a sustainable low carbon future. This will be made possible through a $40M partnership with the Government of Western Australia and Gorgon Joint Venture operated by Chevron Australia.

Focused on funding green technology and lowering carbon emissions, the new GreenTech Hub will be established along with a Lower Carbon Grants Program – Gorgon Fund which will fund large, transformational research and innovation activity across industries, technology platforms, and regions that support practical and effective decarbonisation solutions.

Purpose of the GreenTech Hub:

  • Foster collaboration that supports innovative climate tech ventures to flourish in Western Australia, solving grand challenges globally and building a strong local green economy

  • Activate a self perpetuating ecosystem of stakeholders and leveraging a broad base of partners including innovators, industry, academia, and government that drive decarbonisation in WA - and extend the reach of the Hub’s impact in Western Australia and beyond

  • Create added economic value through supporting and accelerating the research, development and commercialisation of green technologies and services in WA, and attracting investment to the State that supports this

  • Support and grow emerging and established green technology businesses whose success relies on innovations at the intersection of new technology and new business processes in both a local and global market

  • Enable the development of climate skills and capabilities that support tomorrow’s jobs today - by supporting the growth of skills, knowledge and workforce in green technologies and services in WA

How will CORE’s Unique Capability help to achieve the above?

  • Our network of innovation hubs and technology precincts in Perth, the Pilbara and Adelaide services more than 5,500 activators in energy and resources nationally

  • We have unique experience in designing, constructing and operating innovation infrastructure that accelerates the pace of innovation

  • As the Operator of the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) in Neerabup, we’re leading the establishment of a New Energy Zone - dedicated to enabling the testing and showcase of technologies in the clean energy space

  • Operator of the Rail Collaboration Centre (RCC) in partnership with the WA Government the Australasian Rail Association which aims to mitigate the cost and complexity of transformation for their heavy haul members, create local manufacturing opportunities to reduce supply chain risk and bring mine sites closer to achieving their zero emissions objectives.

  • Each of our Hubs is a porous highly connected node through which, as ecosystem architects and curators - we build community, capability and culture.

  • Connection to startups / innovators / SMEs - our flagship capability development programs include CORE Sprint, CORE Start, Get Global, Data Science Springboard and the annual “Hot 30” awards - highlighting and showcasing innovators in the mining, energy and resources sectors

  • Trusted partner for Government, Corporates, Startups, SME’s and Universities with major clients including BHP, Rio Tinto, IMDEX, Development WA, South Australian Government, and the Australasian Rail Association

  • Strategic advisor to industry on decarbonisation for heavy industries, net zero pathways and ESG

  • Experienced, diverse and passionate team of entrepreneurial leaders and cross-sector experts who’ve been actively contributing to the WA startup ecosystem for 10+ years alongside key industry partners including Spacecubed, Unearthed, and METS Ignited.

Partner and collaborate with CORE to help contribute to a sustainable future locally and globally by driving innovation and supporting the growth of enterprises and green tech technologies in Mining and Manufacturing, Energy & Power, Buildings & Cities, Transport & Logistics, Agriculture & Food, Waste & Environment and Retail & Professional Services.

What is the opportunity?

As part of our submission for Operator, CORE Innovation Hub has begun assembling the ecosystem that will collaborate to deliver a world class GreenTech Hub.
