Huge Success: Pilbara Innovation Exchange 2023

The Pilbara Innovation Exchange set out to unlock regional business potential in Western Australia and showcase the depth of innovation and the dynamic and diverse businesses operating in the Pilbara.

Over the years CORE has worked alongside a number of businesses working right across the Pilbara region. Grassroots companies who are developing innovative technology and solutions and providing goods and services to the energy and mining industry. However, we recognised that while businesses based in the Pilbara often deliver services locally, many of the key decision-makers of their primary target markets are based in Perth.

Was great to hear about the challenges Small and Medium Enterprises have on their journey to Net Zero and how the Pilbara Tier 1 miners have a big opportunity to reach down to support SMEs with this transition.
— Shawn Ryan, Evolv3

The Pilbara Innovation Exchange set out to connect grass-roots innovators with industry decision-makers. Leveraging our significant metro network as well as our national ecosystem across the energy, resources, space and defence sectors, The Pilbara Innovation Exchange aimed to build the knowledge, skills and industry connections essential to resilient business growth for businesses operating in the Pilbara.

It was such a great event to participate in and a great way to connect with regional businesses as well as many other business and innovation-focused people from across the state.
— Rebecca Davidson, Department for Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation

The Pilbara Innovation Exchange featured an exciting line up of speakers including Dr Vanessa Rauland, Susan O’Byrne, Tom Goerke, Eliza Carbines, Kevin Michel MP, Kylah Morrison, Rebecca Davidson, Stephen Carroll, Wilson Casado, Matthew Sear and Madi Signa who provided their thought leadership on topics including resilient business growth and net-zero strategies to achieve climate targets and future proof operations.

A Pilbara-based tradeshow followed the half day program in which 18 businesses from right across the Pilbara including Newman, Port Hedland, Karratha, Onslow and Tom Price, exhibited. These formidable businesses represented a number of industries including robotics, renewable energy, logistics, signage and promotions, environmental, fencing and more.

The Pilbara Exchange 2023 was actively supported by all of the regional Chambers of Commerce together with sponsors Regional Development Australia, Kevin Michel MLA, Seed Innovation Hub, Tender Relief, Enterprise Business Hub, Rio Tinto, Visagio, Evolv3, as well as the Spacecubed Foundation and the Innovative Society Initiative.
