WORKSHOP AND NETWORKING
Perth is already home to a number of informal clusters that are attracting wealth to our region. Many have an international reach and are supported by innovative technologies. However, the ongoing development of these clusters can be confined by a number of issues that hinder growth and opportunity. This Cluster Muster is to outline how successful clusters work and the steps that could be taken to capitalize on ‘competitive collaboration’.
What is a cluster? A cluster is a geographic concentration of related businesses and support organisations. Our presenter will share examples of international clusters, many in remote regions, which have succeeded in developing a global reach, or organizations which work together to jointly increase their profiles.
Ifor Ffowcs-Williams, CEO of Cluster Navigators Ltd, New Zealand, is in Perth and will be delivering the Cluster Muster with a focus on establishing collaboration, even across seemingly competitive businesses, where working together builds stronger networks and increased revenue.
The Cluster Muster with Ifor is for those who want to explore some of the practicalities of cluster development. Ifor is acknowledged as one of the most influential cluster practitioners in the world, with hands-on experience extending to over 50 countries.
Ifor has been an advisor to The World Bank, EU, OECD, UNDP, international aid agencies and national & regional economic development agencies on six continents.
