The Perth Machine Learning Group (PMLG) formed in March 2017 and has been meeting weekly at CORE. It is a local community meetup of like-minded individuals focused on developing their knowledge, skills and networks by working together through the practical (coding) challenges of machine learning and deep learning. They are striving to become a forum where confidence, knowledge and skills in Machine Learning can be developed and fostered through a commitment to teaching and community.

Western Power, CORE and FLUX have formalised a sponsorship agreement for PMLG to help the group grow.

"Machine Learning, Automation and Artificial Intelligence are increasingly important digital technologies that are opening up opportunities and productivity gains across sectors, notably the resources and energy sector. This is bringing tremendous opportunities for those who are equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills," said Tamryn Barker, CORE CEO.

"Building local knowledge and capability in this area is critical if we are to bring new value to established businesses and grow a pipeline of new enterprises based on these technologies. That is why CORE Innovation Hub is so pleased to be supporting thePerth Machine Learners Group."

Beginner and advanced sessions are held each week and new members are always welcome. No experience in maths is required, but you must be willing to program your way through the course and be interested in learning. Learn more about the group HERE.
