Engineers Australia’s College of Leadership and Management has identified several areas in which new and creative responses are needed to both entrenched and emergent problems and opportunities. In the spirit of innovation, they experimented with the ‘World Café' method as a novel way of exploring these issues and seeding potential pathways to growth and improvement.
The group invited five senior professionals to pitch their key challenge to the audience on the topics of Education, Risk and Project Management, Leadership and Management, Sustainability and Invention and Innovation. The audience firstly gravitated to the area they wanted to contribute to and then moved to another discussion after 10 to 15 minutes.
Each conversation host recorded the ideas and thoughts as the discussions took shape, then everyone came together to reflect on the outputs and pick up on common themes that had emerged.
EA thanks facilitator Doug Aberle, Chair of CLM in WA and the conversation hosts. The event was supported by EA sponsors GHD, Engenium, Monadelphous, Squire Patton Boggs and innovation partner CORE.
