CORE Showcasing Resourceful Innovation at West Tech Fest

As Australia’s first resources and energy sector focused innovation hub, CORE is a proud supporter of West Tech Fest, WA's annual celebration of the APAC startup ecosystem.

During the week CORE will host events bringing the sectors’ innovators and leaders together as we showcase cutting edge technology being developed in resources and energy, look to the future with Lithium Valley and explore new ways to build innovation networks.

 

Connecting Startup Innovation to Industry

We start the week with the Connecting Startup Innovation to Industry breakfast event on Tuesday 4 December. International perspectives on building innovation networks will be presented by leading researchers in the space with new ways offered for policy makers and strategists to encourage open innovation, technology transfer and ecosystem development.

Presenters

Chiara Cantù is an Associate Professor from Cattolica University, Milan. She specialises in Entrepreneurial Business Networks, Multi-stakeholder perspectives of open Innovation, Start ups and Innovation Hubs.

Daniel Schepis is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at UWA. His research focuses on innovation networks, corporate social responsibility and director interlocks. Daniel recently returned from an international study of innovation in the resources and energy sector, conducting fieldwork in Australia, Chile, U.S.A, Canada and Italy.

CORE and Unearthed’s annual flagship event Startup Exchange presents cutting edge technology developed for the resources and energy sector. Attendees can get up close as innovators and founders demonstrate their technology.

Lithium Valley is a catch-all phrase for establishing WA as a core focal point for growing clean energy resources processing, battery manufacturing and further value adding across Australia. Future Smart Strategies projected global trade in lithium batteries will soar more than 10x to $2 trillion by 2025.

Panelists

Prof Peter Newman AO – a global leader in sustainability and internationally recognised on multiple occasions by peers and institutions, IPCC author, and 2018 Western Australian Scientist of the Year – and of course anointed father of the Lithium Valley.

Ms Jessica Shaw MLA – previously a professional in the resources and energy sector, Jess is the Member for Swan Hills and Chair of the Economics and Industry Standing Committee – including the Microgrids inquiry currently underway.

Prof Ray Wills – another global leader in sustainability, working across all sectors including the built environment, cleantech, energy infrastructure, industrials, manufacturing, resources, transport. He was one of the lead authors for the Lithium Valley report and is the inaugural CORE Expert in  Resident.
